Jaguar I-PACE

Electric vehicles are commonly known for their incredible efficiency, but Jaguar is changing the name of the game with the introduction of the Jaguar I-PACE concept car, the British automaker’s first-ever all-electric vehicle. This model has been crafted to deliver mind-bending performance typically unheard of among electric vehicles. While the vehicle has a tentative 2018 release date, you can expect highly advanced technology and futuristic design characteristics to place the Jaguar I-PACE in a league all its own. Find out what we know so far, and stay in touch with Jaguar Fort Myers for more information down the road.

Performance and Electric Range

The upcoming Jaguar I-PACE model is slated to run on two motors and be completely electrically powered. It should send a whopping 400 hp and 516 lb-ft of instant torque to all four wheels, and it’s expected to sprint to 60 mph in around 4.0 seconds. This setup allows for an extensive driving range of more than 220 miles on one charge, meaning you can do more than make it to work and back—you can set out on a road trip without having to worry about filling up the gas tank or stopping for a charge after just a few miles. This range is primarily made possible with the vehicle’s 90 kWh lithium-ion battery. And when you do need to charge, you can get the I-PACE back to 80% within 90 minutes with a 50kW DC rapid charger. Perhaps most noteworthy about the performance capabilities of the I-PACE is that is produces no vehicle emissions at all, allowing you to truly go green without compromising on performance.

Jaguar I-PACE performance

Jaguar is taking a step in a new direction with the vehicles it produces, and that is evidenced by the design of the upcoming I-PACE. As Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum said, “the challenge was to design and build an electric vehicle that’s distinctively and unmistakably a Jaguar – a vehicle that will demonstrate that an electric vehicle can be a driver’s car and excite the senses.”

And it seems that Jaguar did just that. Aerodynamics are a top priority, as proven by a hood scoop and flush door handles for a sleek appearance and ultimate swiftness and functionality. Essentially, the I-PACE is a peek into the types of Jaguar vehicles likely to seen in the future, and stresses the automaker’s continued emphasis on luxury, boldness, and performance.

Jaguar I-PACE exterior

Inside the cabin of the Jaguar I-PACE is enough room for five people to sit comfortably with plenty of legroom due to a longer wheelbase, and a trunk that measures a cavernous 18 cubic feet. The interior is made particularly spacious because the car doesn’t have to house an internal combustion engine or transmission tunnel, thanks to its all-electric status. You can also expect unique storage spaces for luggage and other items throughout the cabin. Plus, the interior embodies the sporty nature of Jaguar performance, and it boasts a panoramic roof as well as a futuristic floating center console.

Technology in the Jaguar I-PACE is leaps and bounds ahead of what we’ve come to expect in modern cars, and the British automaker has placed technology at the heart of its newest model. The advanced tech isn’t distracting, though. Instead, it’s been cleverly integrated into the cabin as a means of boosting the driver and passenger experience overall. Along with the technology incorporated in the Jaguar I-PACE comes elegant displays—two infotainment touchscreens can be found in the center console, and screens depicting vehicle information are located behind the steering wheel. You can even take advantage of a full-color Head-Up Display to view important information like speed directly on your windshield, keeping your eyes on the road ahead.
